I wrote about Michael's Resort 2012 collection here, where he charmed me with his prints and geometric shapes. Well, I have to admit that the new collection from the talented New York-based designer is even better!
While creating this amazing collection Michael was inspired by Ancient Egypt and as his mother is from Cairo also by the old family photographs. His signature digital prints evolve around the floor plans and walls of the ancient Egyptian temples, lotus flowers and papyrus and Cleopatra's portraits which were then layered with a gold lace and mirrored.
The shapes are very modern and simple but also feminine to keep the overpowering prints in a perfect balance. I love the colours here: from the basic white, black and gray to orange hues combined and earthy browns. I love that sleeveless trench, printed pleated skirts, cropped jackets, anoraks, structured dresses and trousers - I admit, I love it all! :)
Plus the model - Julia Stegner did such a good job modeling the lookbook photographed by Christopher Katke. See the whole collection here!
